What We Do

Complete Coating & Blasting Services

Every job runs the full cycle in-house — stripped, blasted, prepped, coated and cured. One shop, start to finish, so the finish holds up for years.

Powder Coating

Durable, chip- and corrosion-resistant finishes in gloss, satin, matte and textured. Thousands of color options for parts big and small.

Sandblasting & Media Blasting

Sand, soda and abrasive blasting to strip rust, old paint and scale — leaving a clean, profiled surface ready to bond.

Surface Prep & Stripping

Degreasing, chemical stripping and full surface preparation. Proper prep is 90% of a coating that lasts — we never skip it.

Custom & Specialty Finishes

Candy, metallic, prismatic, chrome-look and clear top coats. Two-tone and multi-stage finishes for a truly custom look.

Wheels & Rims

Factory and custom wheels stripped, coated and sealed — from stealth matte to eye-catching candy colors that stand up to the road.

Restoration & Refinishing

Rusted, weathered and worn parts brought back to better-than-new. Automotive, motorcycle, patio, and antique restorations.

Industrial & Production Runs

Batch and high-volume coating for manufacturers and fabricators — racks, frames, brackets, structural steel and equipment.

High-Heat Coatings

Headers, exhaust, manifolds and brake components coated for finishes engineered to take the heat and keep their color.

Who We Serve

How It Works

Our Five-Step Process

The difference between a finish that flakes and one that lasts is what happens before the color goes on.

01

Strip & Blast

Old coatings, rust and contaminants are blasted away to bare, profiled metal.

02

Prep & Mask

Parts are cleaned, degreased and carefully masked to protect threads and surfaces.

03

Apply Powder

An even, electrostatic coat of your chosen color and finish is applied by hand.

04

Cure

Parts bake in the oven so the powder flows and bonds into a tough, uniform shell.

05

Inspect & Deliver

Every piece is checked for coverage and quality before it heads back to you.

About Us

Meet John & Nightmare Coating

Nightmare Coating is a family-run shop owned and operated by John Dittenber and his son, who together have spent over a decade mastering powder coating and the blasting and prep work that makes it last. What started as a passion for getting finishes right has grown into a trusted shop serving both industry and individuals across Mid-Michigan.

When you drop off a part, you're working directly with the father-and-son team coating it. That means honest advice, real attention to detail, and a finish you can count on — whether it's a pallet of parts for your production line or the wheels on your pride and joy.
